Harare, Zimbabwe — The Research Council of Zimbabwe convened a significant symposium today, aimed at promoting and coordinating research initiatives among the nation’s youth.
The event brought together young scientists from primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities, industry leaders, policymakers, and international researchers, fostering a collaborative environment for innovation.

Under the national Education 5.0 framework, which emphasises the integration of education, research, and innovation, the symposium serves as a critical platform for showcasing the talents of young researchers. Participants presented projects tackling various local issues, from environmental sustainability to health advancements, demonstrating the potential of Zimbabwe’s youth to drive national development.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa officially opened the event, highlighting the Government’s commitment to nurturing a research culture that empowers young scientists.

“These young innovators are the future of our nation, and their contributions are vital for addressing the challenges we face,” he said. The symposium not only celebrates the achievements of emerging scientists but also reinforces the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, and government in advancing scientific research in Zimbabwe.
