Changamire Hip-Hop Festivals and Awards founder Zimboy Jackson, real name Tafadzwa Muchechetere, has ventured into furniture business to prepare for the future of his Changamire initiatives.
Jacksons Furniture came as an eye-opening opportunity to him after many local artistes fell on hard times due to Covid-19 pandemic lockdown as most of them did not have a side hustle to balance their musical careers.
“During the lockdown I sat down and thought to myself I must come up with an idea of making money as I mostly generated income from promoting shows and hosting the Changamire festivals monthly in different parts of the country.
“The lockdown did not only crush my musical business but it also crippled almost every artiste in Zimbabwe because even to date shows are still banned under the lockdown as they can spread Covid-19,” said Zimboy.
As soon as the lockdown was eased to stage three with most formal sectors opening, Jacksons Furnitures was brought to life with operations in Harare and Gweru.
“As soon as President Mnangagwa announced that we are going on stage three with all formal sectors opening, I decided to kick-start the company so as to provide employment to the youths and to date I have managed to employ 12 carpenters,” said Zimboy.
With a massive demand from the city of kings, Zimboy revealed that he would be opening the third branch of the company in Bulawayo in August to meet the needs of different potential customers in the city.
“We have been receiving calls from the city of kings and many people have ordered furniture with us. Therefore, I have come up with another challenge to open the third branch in Bulawayo so as to meet the demand,” said Zimboy.
Zimboy has done a lot in improving the hip-hop game in the country by promoting Changamire Festivals and Awards, a platform where rappers and dancers from all over Zimbabwe have participated and shared ideas to up their standards.
Local artistes who have benefited from the Changamire Hip Hop Festivals include Asaph, Cal_vin, Guluva 7even, Whin Queens, Gunz Da Pharoah among many others.
