Zimdancehall acts billed to shutdown ZITF

THE country’s top Zimdancehall artists Templeman, Ricky Fire, Guspy Warrior, Freeman and Dhadza D will be heading to Bulawayo on Saturday for the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Shutdown gig.The gig, taking place at the Hartsfield Rugby Grounds, will also feature Ninja Lipsy, Terminator, Garry B, MC Lenny Materhorn, Kinna, Centre Party, Vic Vado, Tripple X and Real Kid.

It will be broadcast on Star FM from 9PM during Godfather Templeman’s Zimdancehall overdrive show to give those who will not be able to attend an opportunity to party from wherever they will be.

“The Trade Fair shut down will be broadcast live on Star FM from 9PM to 11PM so that people get a feel of what the show and Zimdancehall is all about,” Star FM Zimdancehall overdrive host and chanter, Godfather Templeman said.

Tickets to the show have been pegged at $3 to enable youths to attend.

“We’ve made the tickets affordable so as to make everyone attend the show especially the ghetto youths as the genre is more popular among them,” show organiser – Eddie Sanyanga said.

Godfather Templeman, who will be performing in Bulawayo for the first time, promised fans nothing but fireworks.

“This show is definitely a must-attend as everything will be superb. My energy will be high with positive vibes and I guarantee people the best,” Templeman said.

As part of Star FM’s efforts to promote the Zimdancehall genre, the station is planning to host similar gigs in other cities and towns.
“Zimdancehall is more popular in Harare than anywhere else and we’re trying to promote it in other places. We’re planning to host similar events where we’ll take different Zimdancehall acts to other cities,” Templeman said.

Meanwhile, Martin Sibanda and Ndolwane Super Sounds, who were billed to perform at another ZITF shutdown show at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre on Saturday with Alick Macheso and Jah Prayzah, have distanced themselves from the show claiming they were never meant to be on that line up.

Ndolwane Super Sounds’ manager Thokozani Nyoni said the show promoter – Chipaz Promotions had marketed the show without their consent as they never signed any contract with him.

“We’re not part of the trade fair show as we’re travelling to South Africa. There was a communication breakdown between our sponsors Savanna Tobacco and the promoter Chipaz,” Nyoni said.

“They advertised without our knowledge but all three parties have sat down and discussed the issue so everything is ok now.”
He apologised to their fans who he said were preparing to see them perform on Saturday.
