FOLLOWING a successful musical concert, featuring award winning Zimbabwean musicians Jah Prayzah and Winky D in the aftermath of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), Bulawayo comes alive again on 4 June, as the city plays host to the inaugural Zimdancehall winter bash festival.
The winter bash will feature high profile names in that genre such as Killer T, Soljah Love, Seh Kalaz,who will be performing in the city for the first time, Freeman, Kenan, Judgement Yard, Bulawayo’s Mzoe 7 and Guluva 7.
The Zimdancehall winter bash will be held at the Amphitheatre in Bulawayo.
A promoter of the show said they were keen on promoting local music and talent in Bulawayo, as the city appeared to have a lack of appreciation of local music.
“It’s sad to see how some of our local musicians are suffering at the helm of international musicians. Whenever there are international shows people flock the venues, forgetting their own kindred. We want to get people accustomed with local musicians so as to promote them and the country’s music as well locally and internationally. From the last show we noticed that people did have an appreciation of local music and we want to give them more of what they want,” said Byron Rice, one of the promoters of the show.
Rice said they had also decided on pegging the entry fees between $3 and $4 to cater for everyone.
“We want everyone, from all walks of life to attend. Our aim is to promote and market our artistes locally and internationally. Look at how some of our icons such as Tuku started off. We will be hosting and promoting more and different shows during the course of the year and will be working with local musicians from across the country,” he said.
Rice added: “As usual there will be full bar and catering, with security as well as reliable parking.”
