Zimpapers appointments, Harare Bureau
THE country’s largest integrated media company, Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) Limited has announced several key appointments within the organisation, effective between November 2025 and January 2026.
Mr Elias Mambo has been appointed editorial executive, effective 1 January this year.
Group CEO Mr William Chikoto said Mr Mambo will “lead the editorial digital transformation process currently underway at Zimpapers.”
Mr Mambo has over 15 years of experience, having worked at Alpha Media Holdings, The Sunday Times of South Africa and The Independent Digest in Malawi.
He joined Zimpapers last year as deputy general manager (digital) and head of news. Mr Mambo holds a Bachelor of Law Honours degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a Diploma in Journalism and Professional Writing and is a final-year Master of Commerce student in Strategy and Innovation at Midlands State University.
Mr Kudzanai Sharara has been appointed as head of Business Hub and Events, effective from 18 November last year.
Mr Sharara brings a wealth of expertise to this role, with an extensive background in investment and economic analysis within the stockbroking industry, complemented by over a decade of experience as a financial journalist. Since joining Zimpapers in 2017, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, rising through the ranks from deputy editor of Business Weekly to his new role.
In addition to his editorial contributions, Mr Sharara produces and co-presents the nation’s most influential business breakfast programme, “Business Focus”, on Capitalk FM.
He holds a Masters in Strategy and Innovation among other several qualifications
Mr Itayi Musengeyi was appointed intake editor on the Super Desk, effective 18 November last year.
He will oversee content production across all Zimpapers platforms, co-ordinating content generation and using analytics to guide planning and delivery.
Mr Musengeyi has served as senior reporter, diplomatic reporter, presidential reporter, news editor, assistant editor at The Herald and editor at Chronicle, The Southern Times in Namibia and Suburban.
He holds a Master of Science in Media and Society Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies, and a Diploma in Mass Communication (Print Journalism).
Mrs Pauline Matanda has been appointed corporate communications and sustainability manager, effective 1 January 2026.
She will oversee corporate communications and sustainability initiatives. Mrs Matanda has over 15 years of media industry experience, previously serving as public relations and events manager and holding various roles in public relations and communication since 2016.
She holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Management, a BSc in Management and Entrepreneurship, a Diploma in Communication and Journalism and is pursuing further studies in sustainability and SDGs.
Ms Yvonne Tivatye takes over as station manager of Capitalk 100.4FM from 1 December 2025.
She will lead the station’s efforts to consolidate its position in Harare’s radio market. Ms Tivatye has over 15 years in the media industry, having worked at Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, Star FM, and Capitalk FM in roles including News Producer, Presenter, Assistant Head of Programming, Chief Producer and most recently Station Manager.
Her qualifications include a postgraduate qualification in Leadership and Management, an Honorary Doctorate in Management, a Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies and certification as a World Health Organisation (WHO) counsellor.
She is currently studying for a Master’s degree in International Relations.
Mr Hebert Zharare was appointed day editor on the Super Desk, effective 18 November 2025. He will coordinate editorial efforts and ensure implementation across platforms.
Mr Zharare has more than 20 years of experience with Sunday News, The Herald, Business Weekly and The Zimbabwe Mirror.
He holds a Master of Science in Strategic Management, a Bachelor of Science Honours in Business Management and Entrepreneurship and diplomas in Mass Communication and Public Relations.
He has covered regional and international summits and received multiple business awards including Mega Fest and FinKing Awards.
