“This is a humble gesture of giving back to society because we are part of humanity. Your dreams have come true and may God bless you,” he said.
Mr Mutasa said he quickly responded to the request for help because Mr Chitenje wanted to earn a better living using his hands.
“We receive a lot of letters everyday but what prompted me to urgently respond to your request is that you said you wanted to use the wheelchair to earn a decent living for yourself despite your disability.
“It is the self-confidence that you possess that pushed us to help you,” Mr Mutasa said.
In his acceptance speech, Chitenje said the donation would help him achieve his goals and improve his life.
“I was just trying my luck when I wrote the letter looking for assistance.
“Now I can achieve my long-held dream of setting up a tuckshop, something I could not do because I was on crutches,” he said.
Mr Chitenje is a victim of polio and is not able to walk without crutches or a wheelchair.
He has a wife, Mary, and two daughters.
