Zimpapers hands over Cancer Power Walk funds

UPDATE :

The sun is shining bright, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of hope and the spirit of giving.

Today, Zimpapers is at Island Hospice and Healthcare in Harare for the handover ceremony of funds collected from the Cancer Power Walk.

The funds are from the 9th edition of the Cancer Power Walk that took place in November 2024.

The Zimpapers Cancer Power Walk aims to raise awareness about cancer and promote support to those affected by the disease.

Participant thanks Zimpapers

Penalope Mutumba, a participant at the Zimpapers Cancer Power Walk, said she loves to participate in the event to raise cancer awareness.

She thanked Zimpapers for coming up with the initiative, which raises funds to support cancer patients.

Mutumba said she is now healthy as a result of the Walk, adding that she will always be grateful to Zimpapers.

UPDATE :

FBC supports cancer fight

Roy Nyakunuwa, a representative from FBC Holdings, said the bank will continue to support the cancer fight through the Zimpapers Cancer Power Walk.

FBC Holdings was a Platinum sponsor at the 2024 Cancer Power Walk.

Nyakunuwa concluded by saying FBC is always ready to sponsor such initiatives as it also helps to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Zimpapers hands over $27k to Island Hospice

Speaking on behalf of Zimpapers acting chief executive officer, Mr William Chikoto, chief technology officer Mr Gorden Mwerenga said he is humbled to be handing over the donation to Island Hospice and Healthcare.

He said Zimpapers is grateful that the sponsors of the event are helping to raise cancer awareness.

“Everyone’s participation over the years has made the Cancer Power Walk a memorable event,” he said.

Island Hospice applauds Zimpapers

Ambassador Getrude Takawira, board chair of Island Hospice and Healthcare said the organisation has been supporting cancer patients.

“Patients with physical, spiritual, and emotional needs get support through sponsorship, doctors, and social workers,” she said.

“We are grateful for this great gesture. As Island Hospice and Healthcare, we will always be grateful to those helping us in combating cancer. This helps us keep our long-lasting partnership.

“There is need to continue fighting cancer – from prostrate cancer which affects men, to cervical and breast cancer. We have to raise awareness and celebrate all the people who are suffering from cancer,” said Ambassador Takawira.
