As schools prepare to open for the first term next week, Zimpapers has tapped into rising back-to-school demand by offering parents and guardians a wide range of stationery, text books, technology and agency school fees payment platform at its Harare, Bulawayo, and Mutare sales outlets.
The country’s largest integrated media house launched its retail unit last year as part of a five-year diversification strategy, aimed at broadening revenue streams beyond traditional media operations.
In an interview, Zimpapers’ Corporate Communications and Sustainability Manager, Mrs Pauline Matanda, said the company has stocked adequate supplies of essential learning materials at its outlets at Herald House in Harare, Chronicle offices in Bulawayo, and Manica Post offices in Mutare.
“We have deliberately stocked a comprehensive range of stationery to meet the needs of learners at all levels, from one-quire counter books, pens, pencils, exercise books and covers, to mathematical sets and bond paper,” she said.
Mrs Matanda highlighted that Zimpapers’ Commercial Printing Hub, which houses Typocrafters, plays a key role in supporting the retail unit.
“Typocrafters produces exercise books, diaries, and other printed materials, ensuring our outlets are stocked with quality products that meet school requirements,” she said.
At Zimpapers, what we sell is convenience.
We do this though our spacious retail spaces and friendly shopping environment.
Buying from Zimpapers outlets also supports a trusted local media house while ensuring competitive pricing, convenience and consistent supply especially at a time when some suppliers hike prices at the start of the academic year.
The company’s Digi Hub also offers textbooks, novels, and cutting-edge electronics such as laptops, printers, smartphones, headphones, and accessories.
In addition, Zimpapers through ZB Bank provides an agency platform for school fees payments.
“Parents can now pay school fees conveniently at our Harare, Bulawayo, and Mutare outlets.
“This platform complements our stationery services, making Zimpapers a one-stop hub for all school-related needs,” she said.
Mrs Matanda confirmed plans to expand the retail concept to other parts of the country.
“Our vision is to make Zimpapers sales outlets accessible nationwide. This expansion will strengthen our footprint in the retail sector while providing affordable and easily accessible stationery and school fee services to more Zimbabwean families ahead of each school term,” she said.
