Zimpapers Mashonaland Central Bureau reporter, Fungai Lupande, was yesterday elected as one of the four co-vice presidents of the World Journalists Federation.
Other co-vice presidents are Asel Omurakunova from Kyrgyzstan, Bal Kumari Adhikari of Nepal and Iffar Rauf of Pakistan.
The federation is registered and headquartered in South Korea.
The launch of the federation is expected to take place in the Asian country at a date to be announced.
Lupande, a national executive member of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ), was elected yesterday during a hybrid meeting that was held virtually.
She deputises J H Lee from South Korea. Abid Siddique Chaudhry is the federation’s secretary-general and Wasif Ali Khan is its spokesperson.
