ZIMPAPERS’ growing influence in the digital media space was recognised after the media house scooped the Outstanding Online Media Award at the prestigious Bulawayo Arts Awards, reaffirming its commitment to promoting arts and culture in the digital age.
The award was received on behalf of the company by Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub reporters Mbulelo Mpofu and Langalakhe Mabena, who represented the organisation at the colourful ceremony.
The accolade recognises Zimpapers’ consistent, impactful and innovative online coverage, which has provided a strong platform for artistes and creatives to showcase their work while engaging audiences across digital platforms.
The recognition comes at a time when Zimpapers is intensifying its digital transformation drive following the official commissioning of its integrated digital-first newsroom by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere. The state-of-the-art newsroom brings together print, broadcast and online operations, enabling real-time, multi-platform content delivery and strengthening the group’s digital footprint.
The digital newsroom initiative has positioned Zimpapers to respond effectively to changing media consumption trends, while enhancing visibility for key sectors such as arts and entertainment.
In addition to the institutional honour, Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub journalists Langalakhe Mabena, Mthabisi Tshuma and Mbulelo Mpofu were nominated in the Outstanding Arts Journalist (All Media) category, highlighting the depth of talent within the media house.
The category was won by ZBC TV’s Lisa Masuku-Kurira after stiff competition from leading arts journalists across the country.
The Bulawayo Art Awards celebrate excellence and contribution to the growth of the creative industry, and Zimpapers’ latest achievement underscores its role as a leading media organisation championing Zimbabwean arts through innovation, quality journalism and digital excellence.
