THE Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZIMPARKS) has refurbished its lodges and staff quarters at Nyanga National Park, in anticipation of hosting visitors and buyers at the upcoming Sanganai World Tourism Expo.
This event, being hosted for the first time by Manicaland, presents an opportunity for Zimbabwe to showcase its tourism offerings.
Five cottages within the park have been renovated, offering visitors access to attractions such as Mt Nyangani, the highest point in Zimbabwe, and the breath-taking Nyangombe Falls.
ZIMPARKS director general, Professor Edison Gandiwa said the renovations demonstrate the authority’s commitment to investing in modern infrastructure, aimed at attracting more tourists.
“We are in the midst of hosting the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo. Nyanga National Park is one of Zimbabwe’s key tourist destinations, endowed with numerous attractions such as Mt Nyangani, Mutarazi Falls, the Zipline, and many others. We take immense pride in our natural heritage, and the renovations will ensure our visitors have a memorable experience,” he said.
In addition to the lodge renovations, 13 staff houses at Udu Camp have been electrified through a partnership between ZIMPARKS and Nyanga Renewable Energy. This initiative aims to improve the conditions of service for rangers, recognizing the critical role they play in conservation efforts.
