THE 2025 Chamber of Mines Golf Tournament lived up to its billing, serving up two days of close, competitive golf at Bulawayo Country Club. Zimplats A4 showed unshakable consistency to top the field with a combined 91 points.
Their steady opening round of 46 and a follow up 45 proved enough to fend off a strong challenge and secure the title.
The victory set them apart for precision, teamwork and calm decision making under pressure. They will also enjoy the privilege of hosting next year’s edition. Played in the popular four-ball better ball stableford format, the tournament mixed friendly rivalry with serious competition and drew over 100 golfers to the lush Bulawayo fairways.
Supporters lined the greens to watch the mining sector’s best golfers test each other.
Mimosa Mines, the 2025 hosts, used the occasion to mark a major milestone. General manager Stephen Ndiyamba paid tribute to all who made the event possible.
“This year we are celebrating a century of platinum mining in Zimbabwe. So for us you could say the celebrations have just started, this is only the beginning. In the next few weeks, months, we will be inviting you for a similar, hopefully bigger and better event to celebrate that milestone. Congratulations to the winners of this edition and more importantly thank you to everyone for participating,” said Ndiyamba.
Close behind the champions were Freda B and Chaba, tied on 88 points after pressing hard but falling just short. Mimosa B and Zimplats A6 followed with 86 points apiece, while Zimplats A2, Zimplats A1 and Caledonia A stayed in the hunt with 85, 85 and 84 respectively. Malaisha and Mimosa C rounded out the top 10 on 83 points each.
With Zimplats A4 crowned winners and next year’s hosts, the Chamber of Mines Golf Tournament once again underlined its place as a premier event on Zimbabwe’s corporate sports calendar. — @brandon_malvin
