The mining giant is a subsidiary of Impala Platinum Holdings Limited and is among foreign-owned companies that have agreed to comply with the country’s indigenisation policy which requires them to turn over their majority shareholding to black Zimbabweans.
Implats agreed to sell 51 percent stake for US$818 million through loaning to Zimbabwe the money expected to be paid back by forgoing dividends in 10 years once implemented.
