Zimpost and its partners, NicozDiamond Insurance Limited, Global Risk Underwriting Managers, have managed to surpass their target of insuring 50 000 vehicles through their “Post Insurance Promotion” between May and August by 5 000 vehicles.
Zimpost postmaster general Mr Maxwell Chitendeni said this on the sidelines of the grand draw held on Saturday at the Harare Agricultural Show.
“Our initial target for this period (May to August) was to reach 50 000 motorists who insure their vehicles and we are excited that we reached beyond that figure,” he said.
“This was a result to teamwork amongst our partners and other stakeholders. As an organisation we have aligned ourselves to private-public partnerships and we are seeing good results.”
Christopher Nyoni of Bulawayo won the top prize of a Nissan Note in absentia. Other motorists also won 3kva full solar systems and other consolation prizes.
NicozDiamond managing director Mr David Nyabadza said the partnership was yielding fruits.
“We have been in partnership with Zimpost for over a decade and as you know we hold insurance licenses and zimpost holds distribution channel,” he said.
“This collaboration ensures that insurance services reach everyone all over the country.”
Mr Nyabadza said he was confident that in the long term, more motorists were going to participate through this post-insurance programme.
Global Risk Underwriting Managers managing director Mr Marumahoko vowed to continue to partner with Zimpost on several promotions that they have running for some years.
He also said his organisation, which is a subsidiary of Nicoz Diamond Insurance Company, specialises in micro insurance business spanning from smallholder farming insurance to personal insurance which has seen the growth of their motor book to over 200 000 vehicles annually.
Updating media in terms of developments being made by Zimpost Mr Chitendeni they had gone digital in many aspects.
“We are ensuring that we leave no one and no place behind and everyone should be able to get licenses through the post office and we have over 400 postal outlets around the country,” he said.
“We are so excited that we are transforming Zimpost in line with National Development Strategy (NDS1) and we have gone digital.”
Mr Chitendeni also said they now have digital counters where people can now transact in the comfort of their homes through the virtual post office.
He added that soon Zimpost was going to be launching a new mobile application that is more efficient.
In terms of e-commerce Zimpost now has what is called Zimbabwean Mall where local traders can use it to buy their wares via this platform online instead of going to those countries physically to buy products.
The payments are done locally at their offices.
