Vice President Kembo Mohadi has joined host President Joko Widodo and other African Heads of State and Government at the official opening ceremony of the Second Indonesia-Africa Forum and the High-Level Forum on Multi-stakeholder Partnerships.
The conferences opened last night and will end tomorrow.
In his address, President Widodo thanked the leaders for their participation in the conferences, adding that everyone “would like to create positive change in the midst of a world full of challenges”.

Some of the challenges, he said, relate to an economic slowdown, unemployment, and inflation rates that have not improved, and the ongoing geopolitical tensions that have resulted in many casualties and that have disrupted global supply chains.
“It is very much regrettable that at a moment like this, international solidarity is actually weakening, the spirit of multilateralism is increasingly sidelined, and fragmentation continues to intensify,” he said.

“And in the end, developing countries are the most affected, millions of people in developing countries are the ones experiencing the most hardships.”
President Widodo added that with only six years left until 2030 just 17 percent of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been achieved.
“Therefore, we need a new direction and a new vision, we need a new strategy, and we need new tactical steps to achieve fairer and more inclusive development for developing countries.”
Apart from VP Mohadi, the official opening was also attended by Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo, President Paul Kagame, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi of Zanzibar, Joseph Nyuma Boakai of Liberia and Prime Ministers Russell Mmiso Dlamini of Eswatini and Xanana Gusmao of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste.
