Over 8 000 Christians from various church denominations are expected to attend a music festival that is being organised by Zimpraise.
The gospel music group will also record a live DVD album at the festival. The event which is slated for October 9-10 in Harare is part of the outfit’s vision of “Uniting denominations through music”.
It will feature Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Carol Chivengwa Mujokoro, Pastor Haisa, Minister Michael Mahendere and United Family International Church and Celebration choirs.
Zimpraise chief executive Mr Joseph Madzire said, “The purpose of this festival is to provide an evening of entertainment to families and Christians of all denominations.
“Praise and worship music is a language we all speak. It unites us as believers. We are happy to be working with artistes from diverse denominations, turning our vision into reality.”
The programme kicks off with a free music gala on October 9, followed by the live DVD recording on the next day.
The album, entitled The Second Coming, is the eighth since the first offering — Zimpraise Volume 1 — which was released in 2007.
Zimpraise is well-known for its hymn and chorus renditions, which have seen the group being sought-after both domestically and globally.
Mr Madzire said 10 years ago, God mandated him to unite Christians.
“In that vision, I saw musicians from a wide variety of churches and Christian denominations putting aside their differences to praise God as one unified choir.
“Ever since, Zimpraise has always sought to promote unity among denominations. On Sundays, churches have individual programmes — Apostolic Faith Mission goes this way and Catholics and Methodists go the other way.
“However, I want us to show that though we may all have different approaches, we all serve the same God and should therefore be able to worship together.”
