adminSpeaking at the handover of the donation held at Ruwa National Rehabilitation Centre, Labour and Social Services Minister Paurina Mpariwa said the goods would go a long way in assisting the vulnerable groups countrywide.
“The clothes, blankets, shoes for all age groups will go a long way in meeting the immediate needs of the 76 registered children’s homes, the 47 institutions for persons with disability and the 19 older person’s homes we have countrywide,” she said.
“Added to these gifts, the monthly grants we provide with funding from the Ministry of Finance will assist the various homes meet some of their basic needs.”
Minister Mpariwa said her ministry needed support from the corporate world and various Government departments.
She said people with disabilities needed equitable access to education, shelter and other basic requirements.
Minister Mpariwa expressed gratitude towards all residential care institutions countrywide for their undying commitment towards the vulnerable.
“You have gone beyond the call of duty to ensure the adequate and timely availability of food, shelter, entertainment and psycho-social well-being for the people under your care,” she said.
