Zimra takes Chegutu Municipality to court

THE Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has taken the Chegutu Municipality to court for failing to pay Income Tax.

The Chegutu Municipality is accused of failing to submit PAYE declaration returns to ZIMRA for the period from December 2023 to May 2024.

The Chegutu Municipality appeared before the Chegutu Magistrates’ Court facing charges of contravening the Income Tax Act.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said: “The accused pleaded guilty to the charges and will appear in court on the 12th of July 2024 for sentencing. Mr Jacob Chikuruwo, the Town Clerk appeared in court on behalf of the Chegutu Municipality.”

The accused is said to have not responded to the reminder notes sent by the complainant until the final reminder sent on June 25, 2024.
