Zim’s bid for 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 spot begins

ZIMBABWE’S campaign for a place at the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 tournament gets underway today when they take on Namibia at the Africa regional qualifier event in Windhoek.

The match is scheduled to start at 1:45PM at the Wanderers Cricket Club in the Namibian capital.

Five teams – Zimbabwe, Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda – are taking part in the Africa regional event that started yesterday.

After playing the hosts, Zimbabwe will face Tanzania tomorrow in another afternoon match.

Next up for Zimbabwe will be a fixture against Kenya on Tuesday, before they entertain Uganda the following day.

Friday will see the fourth-fifth and second-third playoffs.

The final is set for next Saturday, with the round-robin winners facing the playoffs winners for the regional title.

The Africa winners will proceed to the global qualification tournament for the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20, which will be hosted in the West Indies. — ZimbabweCricket
