Zimsec refutes exam irregularities reports

THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has dismissed reports alleging irregularities in this year’s Ordinary and Advanced Level public examinations.

Media reports over the weekend alleged that some schools received wrongly labelled or insufficient question papers, while others got improperly sealed examination packages, raising fears of possible leakages.

However, Zimsec dismissed these claims, stating that the examinations were progressing smoothly and that their integrity remained intact.

“Zimsec issues this statement to categorically reassure all candidates, parents, guardians, and the nation that the November 2025 examinations are proceeding as scheduled, with their integrity fully intact,” reads the statement.

“There has been no leakage of any Zimsec question paper for the November 2025 examination session.”
The council said its multi-layered security protocols, governing the process from question paper setting to distribution and to the writing of the examinations, have been strictly adhered to and have proven effective and that any administrative and/or logistical problems are dealt with according to the standard operating procedures that are in place.

“We are pleased to report that the examination session has progressed very well so far. Candidate attendance has been high and the conduct in examination centres nationwide has been commendably orderly,” said Zimsec.

“We applaud the candidates for their focus and discipline. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the heads of centres, invigilators and security personnel for their unwavering dedication and professionalism in upholding the sanctity of the examinations.”

The examinations body said it treats any form of examination malpractice with the utmost seriousness and has established mechanisms to detect and investigate any irregularities.

Any individuals involved in compromising the examination process will face severe legal and administrative consequences, said Zimsec.

“We will continue to monitor the entire process vigilantly until its conclusion. For official information and updates, all stakeholders must use ZIMSEC’s verified communication channels,” said the examinations body.

ZIMSEC is a parastatal under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, created by The Zimbabwe School Examinations Act [Chapter 25:18]. It is an internationally accredited examinations board. Its syllabuses were evaluated by the National Academic Recognition and Information Centre (NARIC) in the UK and found to be equivalent to the General Certificate of Education Standard offered in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand,

United States of America and the other English-speaking countries, hence the internationally recognized qualifications conferred by the Council
