Zimsec sets O, A-Level examination deadlines

The deadline for the June examinations is April 8 and May 27 for the November examinations. Late entries will be given a grace period of two weeks, which means candidates should have paid by June 10. Last year’s deadline was May 28.
Zimsec public relations manager, Mr Ezekiel Pasipamire said the examination fees were decided late and Zimsec had to accommodate parents, as they needed adequate time to pay.
“I think we have given parents enough time to prepare for the payment of examination fees for their children, considering that the fees were decided late and we had to accommodate them. Cabinet approved our fees on Tuesday last week and we have since informed all O and A Level examination centres in the country.
“We are still in the process of communicating the deadline for payment to the centres and I am certain that very soon all the centres would have received the information,” said Mr Pasipamire.
“Our communication system as a country takes some time for information and forms to get to centres and back to us. We had to make sure that we leave enough time for communication.”
Mr Pasipamire urged parents to pay their fees in time to avoid inconveniences.
“I would like to encourage parents to pay fees before the deadline that we have set to avoid inconveniences. Every child must sit for the examinations and they should not be hindered due to non-payment of examination fees,” said Mr Pasipamire.
O Level exam fees rose by US$1 to US$11 and A-level fees from US$20 to US$22 per subject for Zimbabwean candidates.
