Speaking on behalf of the alliance, ZIMSWA National Coordinator Queen Ncube expressed support for the growing push to decriminalise sex work in Zimbabwe.
A move aligned with the national strategy alliance, centers on the voices and lived experiences of sex workers across all provinces.
“The decriminalisation of sex work is not only a matter of justice and equality, but a critical step toward achieving Zimbabwe’s public health goals, including ending HIV/AIDS by 2030,” said Ncube.
She noted that continued discrimination against sex workers only fuels violence, corruption, and marginalisation, while decriminalisation promotes safety, dignity, and better health outcomes.
ZIMSWA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Zimbabwe’s national anti-discrimination strategy, which guides current conversations and shapes inclusive discourse around the rights of sex workers.
As a non-profit, human rights-driven organisation, ZIMSWA continues to collaborate with Parliament, civil society, and other institutions to amplify the voices of sex workers and ensure their meaningful participation in national policy-making processes.
The organisation also advocates for the legal protection, improved healthcare access, and overall wellbeing of sex workers.
