Zimswitch, a leading payment solutions provider in the country, has pledged its support to the fight against cancer by donating US$30 000 to the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe.

In a speech delivered at the company’s 30th anniversary celebrations, Zimswitch CEO, Zabron Chilakalaka, emphasised the devastating impact of cancer:

“Cancer is a word that evokes fear and uncertainty. Each one of us has been affected by this disease in some way.”

He added: “Currently, over 5,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed annually in Zimbabwe, highlighting the urgent need for support and resources.”

Chilakalaka acknowledged the invaluable work done by the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe: “Their commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer is invaluable.”

The donation, he explained, is part of Zimswitch’s ongoing ESG initiatives and will be used for cancer awareness campaigns and the procurement of essential medication.

“Through this act, we stand in solidarity with every patient, survivor and family member whose life has been touched by cancer,” Chilakalaka affirmed.

“We want them to know that they are not alone in this fight.”

Meanwhile,  Chilakalaka said over the years, the Zimswitch has rolled out an array of products across multiple channels in a quest to solve matters.

He revealed that in the next few days Zimswicth shall be going live with functionality for interbank cash deposits over POS.

“We are currently testing, a solution that allows cash deposits regardless of one’s bank.

“This is particularly useful as banks consolidate their branches,” said Chilakalaka.

Zimswitch not only facilitates local transactions but also supports international transactions through the strategic partnerships with Mastercard, TCIB and PAPPS.

These collaborations allow for seamless international payments, further integrating Zimbabwe into the global financial network.

Zimswitch was born from the collaboration of six pioneering banks – namely, Stanbic, ZB, CBZ, CABS, Time Bank and First Capital Bank.
