ZimTrade bullish over buyers seminar at Export Week

National trade development and promotion agency, ZimTrade, expects the Buyers Seminar to be held during the Zimbabwe Export Week next month to deepen commercial linkages between local producers and buyers from across the world.

The Buyers Seminar, scheduled for October 15, 2025, is one of the flagship events of the Zimbabwe Export Week, which culminates in the Exporters Conference and Exporters Awards on October 16.

The seminar will bring together 14 regional and international buyers from France, Mozambique, Zambia, Angola, South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Egypt.

The buyers will focus on fast-moving consumer goods, agricultural produce, with a special emphasis on horticulture and sesame, agricultural inputs and implements, construction and engineering products, iron and steel, protective clothing, as well as meat and meat products.

The targeted sectors for this year’s programme reflect areas where Zimbabwe has strong competitive advantages.

Ahead of the seminar, the buyers will visit your local companies across the country to familiarise themselves with Zimbabwe’s production processes.

The visits are expected to strengthen confidence in the capacity of local firms to supply regional and global markets.

The Buyers Seminar will provide a platform for business-to-business meetings between local exporters and international buyers.

Zimbabwean companies will present their products, discuss new orders, and advance ongoing negotiations.

ZimTrade operations director Mr Similo Nkala said the Buyers Seminar is an important programme towards growing the country’s export earnings.

“The Buyers Seminar is a critical intervention in our efforts to increase exports.

“It is not just about creating a platform for meetings but targeted at building relationships that can sustain trade in the long term and help our companies gain trust in regional and global value chains,” he said.

Mr Nkala highlighted the value of factory and farm visits as part of the programme.

“We know that buyers want to see where products are coming from and how they are produced.

“When they see for themselves the quality, the standards and the commitment of our companies, they leave with confidence that Zimbabwe can supply consistently.

“This confidence is what drives orders and repeat business,” said Mr Nkala.

He added that the seminar presents a timely opportunity for local exporters.

“For our exporters, this is the moment to prove that Zimbabwe is ready to compete and supply at scale.

“Every sample exchanged and discussion concluded is a chance to secure new contracts.

“We want to see companies use this seminar to elevate themselves from being occasional suppliers to becoming regular players in international markets,” he said.

The Buyers Seminar will precede the Exporters Conference and Exporters Awards, which will also be part of the highlights of the Export Week on 16 October 2025.

The combined programme is designed to showcase Zimbabwean products, recognise outstanding exporters, and promote sustainable growth in international markets.
