THE Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) is set to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 22 at the Convergence Hall, located at the Harare Show Grounds.

The AGM coincides with a pivotal moment for the organisation, amid ongoing debates on royalty distribution and artiste welfare. The forthcoming election will shape Zimura’s leadership, influencing its advocacy for music creators’ rights nationwide.

Zimura director of information and publicity, Alexio “GoodChild” Gwenzi urged progressive members to attend.

“On October 22, the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) will hold its elective Annual General Meeting to vote for the next board of directors.

“During this crucial election, members will shape the future of the organisation through their ballots, potentially electing a new chairperson. Once all new board members have been selected, they will then vote among themselves to choose a chairperson and a vice chairperson. Only registered Zimura members with valid identification will be permitted to attend the meeting,” said Goodchild.

Zimura is a national organisation that looks out for the interests of writers, publishers and composers of music.

The current Zimura board consists of the following members:
Mr Albert Nyathi – Board Chairperson
Mr Farai Batani – Vice Chairperson
Mr Alexio Gwenzi – Director of Information, Media, and Publicity
Mr Mudiwa Hood – Director of Innovation and Strategy
Mrs Janet Manyowa – Board Treasurer
Hon Dingumuzi Phuti – Director responsible for Relationship Management and Liaison
Ms Hope Masike – Director of Events and Planning
Mr Witness Zhangazha – Board Legal Advisor
Mrs Polisile Chimhini – Executive Director
