MINING executives, service suppliers and other stakeholders teed off at 0700 Hours on Saturday morning at the Bulawayo Country Club Golf Course.
Over 150 golfers are taking part in the two day event which has drawn participants from all over the country.
The first day pities service providers, other stakeholders and mining executives and will run up to the evening when a dinner and prize ceremony is held.
“The first day has a bigger field because we have our service providers as well taking part including suppliers, the second will be the Chamber of Mines Golf Championships on Sunday with about 150 golfers. We look forward to a good golf event,” said Stephen Ndiyamba the Mimosa general manager.
Mimosa who won the event last year also earned hosting rights and chose Bulawayo who have better golf courses in the region.
The hosts are also using the event to celebrate 100 years of mining platinum.
The mine was started by the Granger brothers but has over the years changed ownership several times.
Mimosa is one of the biggest mining concerns in Zimbabwe and has a significant contribution to the GDP and has always had a very engaging social corporate responsibility programme supporting education, health and environmental matters in surrounding areas.
Bongani Ndlovu
