Zimuto High School is proud to celebrate years of fostering academic excellence and shaping future leaders.
Zimuto High, as one of the academic powerhouses in Zimbabwe, is continuing to produce the best ZIMSEC results.
Last year, the school had a 100 percent pass rate in Advanced Level and the best results in Ordinary Level examinations in the Masvingo district.
The school also had the Best Church Boarding school offering a heritage curriculum with a more than 70 percent pass rate at the Ordinary Level and more than 80 percent pass rate at the Advanced Level on local exams in each subject.
Zimuto is proud of how it nurtures students, the guest of honour, Tapiwa Muchineripi, is a former student who is the Proprietor & Managing Legal Practitioner of Muchineripi & Associates Legal Practitioners. Speaking at the second edition of Speech and Prize Giving Day after Covid-19, acting head Brighton Makota, said despite the challenges the school has faced, the major aim of realising academic excellence is being pursued to fruition.
“It is important for each of us here to have unity of purpose and work together to make Zimuto High very great. We must work hard, be committed, be dedicated, be resilient, and develop confidence in ourselves so that we bring back the school to its previous glory.
“Like praying mantises, we must continue to pray to our Almighty God so that He saves us from the wickedness that is embedded in our daily lives.
“I would like to congratulate those who will get prizes and encourage them to continue working hard to achieve more.
“I would also want to encourage those who will not receive prizes not to tire but to emulate those who have managed to make it,” he said.
Co-curricular activities
• This is one of the important school domains where our learners are doing wonders. I am pleased that Zimuto High is now present in international circles. Six baseball under-18 girls have managed to go and perform in South Africa,
• The Russian guy Gwehama Tinomudaishe defied all odds to scoop the diamond award and a special mention in the astronomy Olympiad in Russia this term.
• The SECTA debate team that is commonly known as the Togo tag team has made it again to go to Uganda for the same competitions this year
• Not to be left out is the robotics Olympiad squad that won a gold medal in Bulawayo this year and is to represent Zimbabwe in Turkey this year in November.
• The Drummies team is now accustomed to becoming national champions. As a result, it will represent the province at ZITF next year.

• The volleyball teams are also becoming more visible at provincial levels rubbing shoulders with heavyweights like Masvingo Christian, Devure, Lundi Xian, and others
• I would like to say congratulations to you for achieving all this.
• However, it is essential to realise that one needs to strike a balance between academic studies and core curricular activities to achieve success in life.
Personal development
• At a personal level as students, you need to develop resilience and a strong character so that you survive in this fast-moving technological world where competition is cut-throat.
• You need to gain physical, spiritual, social, psychological, emotional, and interpersonal growth so that you acquire an important life asset which we call unhu, (Ubuntu) and become leaders of tomorrow
• You also need to pay a close look at your personal health and safety so that you shun all forms of drug abuse and be able to survive and realise your aspirations.
• Due to that, I can safely say congrats to those who will receive prizes and say try try and try again for those without prizes
Challenges
• Ladies and gentlemen, children and parents, I am aware of the perennial problems bedeviling the school some of which are power outages, water crisis, and learner security.
• It is my belief that those problems will be a thing of the past soon through the efforts of the RA, former Zimuto High students, and some good Samaritans. As I speak, efforts to solarise the whole school are underway and God willing, by the end of 2024, we will wave goodbye to darkness. Thumbs up to the RA for that initiative.
• For the staff members, the accommodation crisis will be solved in the near future with the RA and our partners in DVT contributing to this noble cause. I implore you our partners in DVT, I am pleading to u our good friends’ former students to just give an ear to the schools` problems so that you can be able to rescue your school from those mindboggling challenges.
Inspiration and motivation
• I would like every one of you to draw inspiration and motivation from the following quotes
• ‘Rome was not built in one day,’ ‘the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’ ‘Nobody does it better, no man is an island.’
• The above quotes give us more energy and confidence to work together now to make Zimuto High a beacon of academic and entrepreneurial excellence resonating well with our motto `Tinokwirira`
Future Directions
• Going forward, it is my vision to see Zimuto at the highest level of academic excellence and entrepreneurial novelty so that it becomes competitive at national, regional, and international levels.
• To this end, the effort, determination, commitment, dedication, and perseverance of everyone here are pivotal to the achievement of the Zimuto High School that we want.
• I would like to give you an assurance that God willing, I will lead this long journey of success through various initiatives that are encompassing and inclusive in nature.
