Zinara rewards compliant motorists

The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) has rewarded more than 200 compliant motorists with prizes as part of efforts to encourage motorists to consistently renew their vehicle licenses and adhere to regulations.

The prizes were handed over in Harare on Wednesday, with sponsors including Old Mutual, NBS Bank, Cell Insurance, Steward Bank and 1010 Tech.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zinara chief executive officer, Mr Nkosinathi Ncube highlighted the success of the License and Win promotion, which ran from October 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025.

“I am pleased to share with you that 792 662 motorists participated during the period and the draw was conducted with all the partners on March 14,” he said.

“A two-week verification window was provided, culminating in the announcement of winners on our platforms.

“Today we not only celebrate the winners but also recognise vehicle licensing compliance, which contributes significantly to national development.”

Mr Ncube said vehicle licensing is more than just a legal requirement as it is also essential for maintaining safe and functional roads.

“Every dollar collected from vehicle licensing and other revenue streams that we administer as Zinara is reinvested into our national road network for routine maintenance or major rehabilitation projects,” he said.

“In total, 88 percent of all our collections are reinvested in our roads through the road authorities.

“Licensing accounts for just under 40 percent of this contribution. As such, Zinara is committed to enhancing convenience and accessibility in the licensing process.”
