THE Zimbabwe Teachers Colleges Sports Association (Zitcosa) Zone B Games that were set to be held this weekend have been moved to April 4-6.The games were set to be played at United College of Education (UCE) starting tomorrow.
Zone B chairman Brian Manuel cited exams as the reason to postpone the games to a later date.
“We have moved the games to April because we don’t want them to clash with exams, now we are sending letters to colleges informing them about the developments,” he said.
Manuel also said they would take the opportunity to seek sponsorship for the association to better the standards of the games. “We still need the corporate world to chip in with financial assistance, these will improve the standard of the games as well as expose the talent that is there in our colleges,” Manuel said.
Colleges that will be battling it out include UCE, Hillside and Mkoba Teachers’ College.
Hillside have a good record so far, dominating their counterparts in all disciplines in the past years especially soccer and athletics.
The tertiary institutions will be competing in athletics, soccer, cricket, rugby, volleyball, basketball, netball, darts, chess and table tennis.
The zone will be selecting a team to represent them at the Zitcosa nationals that will be held at Mkoba College in June.
The colleges are classified in three zones with Zone A comprising Marry Mount, Morgenster, Masvingo and Mutare Teachers’ colleges while Belvedere, Morgan, Nyadire, Madziwa and Seke Teachers College are in Zone C.
