ZITF sports a hit

ZITF sports proved to be crowd pullers on Saturday as many fair goers attended the jumping, drum majorettes, athletics and tug-of-war action.
Show jumping enthusiasts were entertained by star riders such as Paula Dakin, Zoe Day, Kerry Watson, Koo Mnkandla and Tsepo Ngwenya.

The horse jumping competition started on Thursday with dressage and competitions for children.
Veteran Kerry Watson riding Pro Safaris Lord Frasier won the Faust Novice Dressage Trophy while in the Pat Smythe Most Points Graded Children, Zoe Day came tops with Dustyberry.

Youngster Sommer Ann McAlister with her horse Happy Days scooped the George Rose Memorial Trophy.
Joanna Elton with Gratis won the Bulawayo Agricultural Society Challenge Champion Horse while Paula Dakin riding Cascadeur lifted the Bulawayo Showing and Jumping Welcome Stakes Top Class

Destinee Day’s great performance saw him winning two divisions — National Foods’ most points adult jumping and Profit Margin Adulv Victor Ludorum.

Meanwhile, in the drum majorettes Harare’s Zengeza 1 defended their title beating Bulawayo schools Magwegwe and Msiteli that came second and third respectively.

Henry Low won the juniors’ category while Zengeza 1 was second and Mafakela were third.
The winners of the competition walked away with a floating trophy and $600.

In tug-of-war, Mutare Board and Paper Mills defended their title which saw them walking away with $1,800 from Ingwebu Breweries.
They beat Hwange Colliery 2-0 in the final after they had thumped Glow Petroleum with same scoreline in the semi-finals.

Hwange took home $1,200 for their runners-up effort while losing semi-finalists bagged $700 each with the quarter-finalists pocketing $500.

Mambo Stars won the women’s title beating Delta 2-1 in the final.
