ZIYAH Media director Mr Loadwell Ziyadumah says the company’s recognition at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Matabeleland Annual Business Awards will inspire it to expand its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives beyond Matabeleland South.
The media company was named second runner-up in the Corporate Social Responsibility category during the awards ceremony held in Bulawayo on Friday.
Speaking after receiving the accolade, Mr Ziyadumah said the recognition was a significant milestone for both the company and Matabeleland South Province.
“It means a lot to us as a team and the whole of Mat South. We are very grateful that we have been nominated outside our district and province. This will push our hands to go beyond our province on CSR if God continues blessing us,” he said.
Mr Ziyadumah said the award had strengthened the company’s resolve to invest more in community development programmes, particularly those focused on empowering young people through sport.
As part of those efforts, Ziyah Media is preparing to host the fourth edition of its Annual Under-20 Schools Soccer Tournament in November.
“This time it will include all the winners from every district in Mat South that participated in NASH. Next year it will be a national event whereby winners from each province will participate,” he said.
The tournament has become one of the company’s flagship community initiatives, providing a platform for talented young footballers from both rural and urban schools to showcase their abilities and gain exposure.
The competition has also contributed to youth development by encouraging participation in sport and creating opportunities for talent identification.
Ziyah Media’s recognition came during this year’s ZNCC Matabeleland Annual Business Awards, which were held under the theme “From Resilience to Competitiveness: Charting a New Path for Sustainable Industrial Growth.”
ZNCC said winners were selected through an independent adjudication process based on transparent and internationally recognised criteria, with awards reflecting measurable impact and achievement.
The company’s growing investment in youth development and community programmes reflects a broader commitment by local businesses to contribute to social and economic transformation beyond their core commercial activities.
