ZKU upbeat ahead tourney today

Ellina Mhlanga Sports Reporter—

AFTER partnering with Africa Bet for this year’s Champion of Champions set for today at Athenaeum Hall in Harare, Zimbabwe Karate Union are convinced it will be a tournament with a difference. The annual event is the last on the karate calendar and is used for selection of the national teams for both semi-contact and full contact styles to represent the country in regional, continental and international events.

For the past years it has been running without sponsors but this year’s event got a timely boost when ZKU received a $10 000 sponsorship from Africa Bet early this month.

ZKU technical director full contact Kumbirai Musinami feels they are in for a good outing today. “For the first time we will be under one roof. This year’s tournament is bigger.

“Last year and the year before we did not have a sponsor but now we have got Africa Bet sponsoring and it’s quite exciting.”
