THE Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Children Association (ZLWVCA) Matabeleland South chapter has intensified efforts to establish structures across all districts while mobilising members to strengthen its presence in the province.
In an interview, ZLWVCA Matabeleland South chairperson, Cde Bolsheviks Ndlovu, said the provincial committee was formed in December, and significant progress has been made in setting up district executive committees.
Five districts now have operational committees, with the remaining two expected to be finalized this week.
Formed in November 2022, the ZLWVCA advocates for the welfare of children born to liberation war combatants and works to preserve the legacy of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, which brought about independence and freedom.
“We were elected as a provincial committee in December last year, and since then, we have embarked on establishing district executive committees. So far, we have successfully set up structures in five districts, and only two remain,” said Cde Ndlovu.
He explained that the association’s mobilisation efforts aim to incorporate all children of liberation war veterans, including those of war collaborators, detainees, chimbwidos, and other freedom fighters, into the ZLWVCA.
“Our focus is on strengthening membership and creating structures that cover all categories of children of war veterans. As part of our mobilization drive, we are encouraging people to register as members of the association,” said Cde Ndlovu.
He said the membership fees and subscriptions will be used to fund capital projects in each district, empowering the children of war veterans economically.
“Through these organised structures, we also aim to instill a spirit of patriotism among the children of war veterans. This will help them embrace their role in safeguarding the revolutionary gains of the nation,” he said.
