The Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) will start the accreditation process for media practitioners for 2025 on January 6.

In a statement, the commission also urged mass media service providers with expired registration certificates to renew them immediately to ensure compliance with industry regulations.

“The accreditation of all media practitioners for the year 2025 will commence on January 6, 2025,” read the statement.

“Notice is also being given that all mass media service providers whose certificates of registration expired should renew them immediately.”

The commission confirmed that accreditation fees will remain unchanged, governed by Statutory Instrument 65 of 2022: Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (Registration, Accreditation, and Levy) Regulations, 2022 (No. 10).

The move is expected to provide stability in the media sector, ensuring practitioners and service providers continue to operate under a consistent framework.

The commission said stakeholders should act promptly and avoid last-minute submissions, emphasising the importance of compliance for maintaining professional standards in the media industry.

With the announcement, the ZMC has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering accountability and professionalism in Zimbabwe’s media landscape as the new year begins.
