The ZNA once again proved to be the best team of the day with Ndodana Moyo beating Washy Ruvetsa in the lightweight category while Leonard Tshuma defeated Tatenda Nyarota in same category.
Walter Mafuta beat Phenias Gondo and Tinashe Kamuti won against Edson Mapeko in the welterweight category.
In the middleweight division the title went to Timothy Mpofu who beat Tafadzwa Magonedze. Ronald Chaikosa defeated Tonderai Chigunza in the same weight division.

In the women’s competition champion of champions title holder, Fortunate Chidzivo had a walkover against Noreen Bhebhe in the bantamweight.
The tournament was part of the assessment for the 26 coaches that attended a two-week Level One coaching course, which ended last Friday. The course was conducted by Zaba technical director, Petros Masiyambumbi targeting coaches from different provinces and was focusing on the basics of the sport.
Masiyambumbi said the tournament was part of their final assessment for the coaches.
“That was the final assessment for the coaches that were attending the coaching course. We wanted them to experience what we had gone through during the course

because some had no idea. That is what we are supposed to do every time we have a course,” said Masiyambumbi.
Masiyambumbi said they have also begun preparations for the African championships to be held in Botswana from June 9 to 16.
“The level of competition was high because people are now eager as we start preparing for the African championships. However, we are not going to have a selection process for the championships because we already have some boxers we had earmarked for the Olympic qualifiers and the current champions from the champion of champions.
“These people were selected because of their experience and exposure. At this level of competition we are not just taking everyone to go there for the sake of sending a team,” said Masiyambumbi.
