GIMBOKI Gallery Range is expected to turn into a hive of activity when the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) funshoot event gets underway tomorrow.
The event, which is meant to be an annual fête and brings together members of the ZNA, businesspersons as well as residents in and around Mutare, was last held in 2013 at the same venue.
In an interview, ZNA Executive Interaction Initiative Manicaland Chapter chairperson Martin Nyaundi said the event would go ahead as scheduled.
Nyaundi said the event was meant to promote interaction between members of the defence forces and the corporate community as well as the general public.
“The whole idea is to demystify the old phenomenon that members of the ZNA are untouchable. The ZNA officials get to mix and mingle with captains of industry, members of the business community as well as the general public, interacting and sharing ideas mainly on issues of economic or business interests.
“The event is on at Gimboki Gallery Range and starts at 10am. It is also imperative to note that this is a fundraising initiative that will be followed by a golf tournament at Hillside Golf Club in August. Proceeds from the event will be channelled towards the army charity initiatives,” said Nyaundi.
The main event for the army charity initiatives will be held in Nyanga in September.
Nyaundi said the funshoot event was also meant to have the military personnel showcasing their skills, while the subsequent golf tournament would also have the business community members doing the same.
The dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Mandi Chimene and Three Brigade Commander Brigadier-General Lazarus Gutu.
