ZIMBABWE National Army is prepared to deal with both internal and external incursions on the territorial integrity of Zimbabwe in the many and different forms that it might take.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Nyanga March and Shoot competitions held in Nyanga last Friday, Zimbabwe National Army Commander, Lieutenant-General Philip Valerio Sibanda, said no amount of internal or external pressure was enough to make the army lose its guard.

“We are conscious of the many pressure groups that are going against Government and expressing their feelings in violent ways. That is a very unfortunate scenario as it foments civil unrest, but we can assure the nation that as an organisation we are more than ready to contain both internal and external incursion to this nation,” he said.

The nation has of late witnessed escalating internal unrest that has seen violent protests mostly in Harare.

Lt-Gen Sibanda also said ZNA was also ready to safeguard the country from any external threats, hence the continuous training programmes to keep its members abreast with current world trends in combat.
