Towards a US$100 billion dollar economy”, will attract over 200 delegates.
In an interview, ZNCC vice president for the Mashonaland region Mr Davidson Norupiri said the congress will be a platform for business people to discuss the current state of the local industry.
“The congress will help us review the state of the business operating environment and map out the way forward with a special focus on the current situation that is unfolding in Zimbabwe,” he said.
Mr Norupiri said the conference would mainly focus on how the Industrial Development Policy and the National Trade Policy will contribute to economic growth and accessing funds for financially distressed enterprises.
The Government earlier this year launched the two export-oriented industrialisation strategies whose overarching objectives are to restore the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product from the current 15 percent to 30 percent and its contribution to exports from 26 percent to 50 percent by 2016.
Mr Norupiri said this year’s theme is focusing on the way the industry will impact the whole society and achieve that as a nation.
“The theme will be turning recovery into accelerated growth-towards a US$100 billion economy and it will be our objective to make it possible involving everyone in the country towards that,” he said.
Vice President Joice Mujuru will officially open the congress while keynote speakers will include TN chief executive officer Mr Tawanda Nyambirai and Trades Centre director Dr Moses Tekere among others.
During the congress, the ZNCC will hold its annual general meeting, as well as the prestigious yearly business awards.
Last year Nyaradzo Funeral Services chief executive officer Mr Philip Mataranyika scooped the ZNCC National Businessman of the Year award.
