ZOC set dates for elections

THE Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) on Wednesday opened nominations for this year’s elections, which will be held on April 25.

ZOC usually have the electoral general meeting in the year immediately following the close of an Olympic Games, but have been forced to make concessions after the games were pushed a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Up for grabs will be five key posts: the president, two vice-presidents, treasurer, seven board members and five legal practitioners to serve on the ZOC disciplinary committee.

“The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC), Nominations & Elections Committee hereby calls for the nomination of candidates from ZOC-affiliated national federations,” read a statement from the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee.

“The positions are to be contested by secret ballot at the quadrennial general meeting to be held on April 25, 2021,” went on the statement.

The nomination of candidates opened Wednesday and closes on March 26 at 4pm.
