Zimbabwe Open University Bulawayo region is ready for the Vice Chancellor games to be held in Mutare from 30 August to 3 September.

The Bulawayo region won the 2016 VC games which took place in Bulawayo at White City stadium, with gold medals going to volleyball women as well as athletics men. All ten regions, Harare, Manicaland, Midlands, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West, Matabeleland North, Masvingo, Bulawayo and Matabeleland South are going to participate in different games which include volleyball, soccer, tennis and athletics, among others.

A member of the Students Representative Committee for Bulawayo, Mike Matanhike, said the games were initially set to start on 26 August but were postponed as they clashed with the Youth Games set for Matabeleland North.

“We have a lot of students who are taking part in the Youth Games so we wanted to give them a chance to take part in those games. I think everything is now set for our games and as Bulawayo, we are going for gold,” he said.

Apart from the field games, there is going to be modelling. A bevy of beauties will clash for the Miss ZOU national crown, with the competition going under the theme “Celebrating cultural diversity in Open Distance Learning”.
