ZOU degree ban lifted

yesterday, ZIMCHE said ZOU had met all the requirements needed for it to teach the degree programme.

“The Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education wishes to inform members of the public that the suspension on the teaching of the Zimbabwe Open University Bachelor of Science Counselling degree has now been lifted,” read the statement.

“The suspension was lifted on June 6 2013 after the university met the criteria of enhancing the content of the degree programme. The process of monitoring degree offering institutions and degree programmes in an on-going exercise and the public will be informed from time to time.”

Last year, the Public Service Commission refused to recognise ZOU’s Diploma in Education, a move that rendered thousands of teachers who had attained the qualification jobless.
The diploma was launched six years ago.
