they have a strong team despite losing star player Sharne Meyer who had a knee operation.
“We have a strong squad and I’m impressed with the women’s work rate. They have worked really hard and our aim is to win each game and we will play to qualify well.
“Our new captain Ashley Ndiraya is doing very well. She is our opening batsman and if her performance will be like last year when she was the third highest runs scorer among all the teams that will be good for us.
“The players fitness level is excellent . . . We had introduced new tactics to our way of play, we had power hitting and also the ability of getting boundaries,” Zowe said.
“Our bating and fielding is good and we just needed to polish them up.
“We have been winning all the friendly matches against the local teams and last Sunday we played against a team called the Rich Boys, but the match was rained off after we recorded 67 all out in 19.2 overs,” Zowe said.
The women’s squad will have their last training session today and rest tomorrow before they depart for Tanzania on Saturday morning.
Zimbabwe came second at the last event, when they lost to South Africa and the new captain Ashley Ndiraya believes they will turn the tables on their neighbours.
