ZIFA Southern Region have rescheduled the league match between ZPC Hwange and Casmyn FC to August 21. The match was initially pencilled for the weekend of August 8 in Hwange, but was postponed after Bulawayo-based Casmyn were involved in an accident along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway.
Zifa Southern Region chairman Musa Mandaza said they were forced to reschedule the game to a nearby date as they want all teams to have played an equal number of games going into the league’s home stretch.
“I can confirm that the replay of the postponed ZPC Hwange and Casmyn match is going to be played this coming Friday. We want it played earlier because we don’t want a situation where teams will have to play many games within a short period of time in the final quarter of the league,” said Mandaza.
Casmyn treasurer Lebus Fuzane said they would have preferred to play the game on Saturday, but welcomed the development saying it was going to ease their tight fixture schedule.
“We have received notification that our postponed match has been moved to Friday. As a club, we would have loved to play on a Saturday but we will play on the set date.
“The early date will help us a lot because we are about to get to that point of the league when things get tough,” said Fuzane. Both Casmyn and ZPC Hwange are eyeing a top four finish in the Southern Region League.
