Former Dynamos striker Tinei Chitora, who is on the verge of joining the ambitious Division One side, scored both goals that handed ZPC Kariba the win.
Chitora joined Dynamos at the beginning of the season but left the Glamour Boys.
The Young Warriors have been in camp since last week and yesterday they played ZPC Kariba as part of their preparations for their big home assignment against Angola on 29 July.
Young Warriors team manger Patrick Mutesva was happy with his team’s performance despite losing to ZPC Kariba yesterday.
“I think we have done enough and achieved what we were looking for because the coaches were trying different combinations.
“The performance was okay and this game had little to do with the result, it was mainly to try different players in different positions.
“There was also a bit of fatigue on the youngsters’ part because we travelled today (yesterday) from Harare and played the match, so it is difficult after travelling by road to play on the same day,” said Mutesva.
The Zimbabwe national Under-20 team’s technical department had requested to have a three-week training camp in Triangle ahead of their game against Angola but financial constraints forced them to settle for two weeks.
Despite the setback, Mutesva believes they have done enough to prepare for their tie against Angola with the little available resources. “We wanted three weeks but financial constraints forced us to settle for two but I think we have done enough in as far as the preparations are concerned. We ran around organising these friendlies and they have helped the coaches to prepare the team ahead of the clash against Angola,” added Mutesva.
The Young Warriors beat Division One side DC Academy last Thursday in another friendly game and on Friday they dismissed Twalumba 2-1 at Rufaro.
