ZPC Kariba midfielder Russell Madamombe grabbed a brace yesterday to help his team steer away from the relegation zone with a big away victory against Dongo Sawmill in this Castle Lager Premiership soccer tie at Vengere. The victory saw the Kariba-based side climb to ninth position on the log and just need three points from the remaining four matches to survive

relegation irrespective of what will happen to the other teams in the relegation zone. Former Dynamos midfielder Madamombe was the toast of the day for ZPC Kariba as he scored a first half brace in the 8th and 33rd minute. And two minutes later, coach Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa’s charges were celebrating again after ZPC Kariba striker Tawanda Nyamandwe got the team’s third goal. ZPC Kariba then killed the match as a contest in the 70th minute when Ghanaian Sylvester Appiah scored the team’s fourth goal.

However, the hosts got their consolation goal through Physwell Madhazi in the 80th minute.

The Rusape-based side have now sunk deeper into the relegation zone and while mathematically they are still in, they are as good as dead.
