In a unique display of community partnership, the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) and Munashe High School in Mutoko have joined hands to donate 90 tombstones for the fallen heroes and heroines buried at Mashonaland East Provincial and District Heroes Acres.
About ten of the tombstones were donated to the provincial shrine located in Marondera. The granite stones were cut, polished and designed by learners from Munashe High School and inmates who received training on the cutting and polishing at the school.

The donation was handed over to the Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Dr Apollonia Munzverengwi.Dr Munzverengwi commended the two institutions for being thoughtful and remembering the country’s fallen heroes.

“This partnership is a true testament of the power of collaboration and community spirit,” she said.”By leveraging the skills and resources of both the prison system and our local schools, we are honouring the legacies of those who sacrificed so much for the betterment of Mashonaland East and Zimbabwe at large.

“I am truly impressed by the quality of work produced by the students and inmates. This project not only provides valuable vocational training but also instills a sense of pride and purpose in those involved. It is a remarkable example of how we can uplift our communities through innovative partnerships.”
