THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) has announced plans to nurture one football club under its stable where resources will be channelled for it to play in the Premiership in the 2018 season.
Other clubs bankrolled by ZPCS will act as talent breeding centres for the one that would have been promoted into the PSL.
ZPCS has three clubs playing in the different First Division Leagues with Ntabazinduna competing in the Zifa Southern Region while former Premiership teams Whawha and Flame Lily are in the Central Soccer League and the Northern Region respectively.
Whawha and Flame Lily were part of the PSL during the 2015 season but were relegated after only a season’s flirtation with the topflight league.
ZPCS Commissioner-General Rtd Major General Paradzai Zimondi said they have learnt from their mistakes and were in the process of identifying a club which they would channel resources to for a quick return to the topflight league.
“We have learnt from our mistakes after two of our clubs were relegated in the premier league. Now we are looking at building one team for the prisons and correctional service and we want to maintain it in the premier league,” Zimondi said. – @lavuzigara1
