ZRCS throws boy lifeline

A pupil at Rafamoyo Secondary School in Gutu, Kudakwashe Masunda, who was being pushed around in a wheelbarrow, got a lifeline on Monday after the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS) donated a wheelchair and groceries to the family.

The organisation, through its humanitarian ambassador Alick Macheso, handed over a wheelchair, groceries and stationary among other goodies.

Kudakwashe’s sister, Lucia, who has been pushing him to school, thanked the organisation for its kind gesture.

“Following the publication of the story I am happy Zimbabweans have been responding well. I want to thank Zimbabweans for their love. Today we have seen the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society giving us assistance and I am happy that they have managed to assist us,” she said.

Macheso said God has his own way of doing things and they would continue to look after Kudakwashe.

“We have read the story and we got touched by his situation. God is for everyone and we will continue to assist him as well as others who have the same plight. As Zimbabwe Red Cross Society our wish is to have everyone assisted.”

Macheso urged the school authorities and his guardians to be patient with Kudakwashe and encourage him to work hard at school.

“Let us encourage him to work hard at school so that he passes  his studies,” he said.  ZRCS secretary general Mr Maxwell Phiri said they would reach out to societies and assist people.
