TEAM Zimbabwe representatives at the SARPCCO Games have been plunged into mourning following the death of a police band member.

Lina Madenyika, popularly known as Nhavara in police circles for her dancing antics, was hit by a reversing Quantum vehicle in Marondera.

Nhavara was among the mourners at a farm attending the funeral of a senior police officer.

Nhavara was part of the group of police band members who performed at the official SARPCCO send-off ceremony in Harare.

“I was saddened to hear about the death of Nhavara,” said one of the participants.

“She was so energetic and ever smiling whenever she was given the chance to display her dancing antics.

“She will be greatly missed at State and police functions,” said one of the participants.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe netball team beat Tanzania 42-40.

The volleyball men beat Malawi 3-0 in matches played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
