ZRP Morris keep sliding

ZRP MORRIS continued to drop points over the weekend when they were held to a goalless draw by Gunners at Morris Depot in the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league. The team, which is now under the guidance of former Black Mambas coach John Ncube who is being assisted by Martin Bonongwe, will have to up their game as they have continued to slide down the ladder in the past few weeks.
That decline resulted in Bonongwe being relegated while Ncube came on board.

But Saturday’s draw did little to help their cause as they are now occupying 16th place out of 18 teams in the league
Ncube yesterday admitted that there was a lot of work still to be done if they were to move away from the bottom end and into a much safer zone.

“For us to avoid relegation we have to work hard. I moved (to ZRP Morris) to help Martin Bonongwe have a strong technical team on the bench.
“The executive want the team to finish in top four and it’s achievable. We can achieve that goal but there is a lot of work to do from the players and us the technical team. “We are now approaching the window period, it’s up to us as the technical team to beef up our squad and bring in new players. Basically we are looking at beefing up the team,” said Ncube.

Ncube said lack of precision in front of the goal was their Achilles Heel against a youthful Gunners.
“The boys played well against Gunners but, unfortunately, we missed a lot of chances. We could have won the match by four goals or so. We were denied a penalty in the first half.

“As you know we were playing at home, we were supposed to win the game. If you are playing at home you are supposed to win because it’s an advantage.

“So the guys have to work hard to ensure that we win all games at home for us to move away from that position,” said Ncube.The police side last won a match in Week Seven against Blue Swallows on May 18 and they have lost three matches and drawn two in their last five assignments.

It is probably against this poor run that the club’s chiefs sought to bring in a more experienced hand, in the form of Ncube, who has also previously worked with Bonongwe at Black Mambas.
